The third Biennale d'art comtemporain de Lyon was held at the Lyon Conference Center from 20 Dec. 1995 through
18 Feb. 1996. Twentieth century art encountered cinema in 1920, video in 1960 and computers in 1990. The first created the reality effect, the second the live effect, and the third brought interactivity. As cinema marked its 100th birthday in 1995, the Biennale d'art comtemporain de Lyon focused on moving images, exhibiting art that embraced the cinematic storyline, video culture and computing. This art with no program fell between two extremes magic and direct action.
